Coming home tonight - Field trip forms for our wetland exploration happening on May 24.  We are also looking for at least three parent volunteers to join us for this all day event.  Please let me know if you are able to come with us to Kananaskis.

Also - two very exciting musical events are taking place next week.

  • Monday - there will be a musical presentation called The Birth of the CPR in the gym.  This relates specifically to our social studies unit as well about how our nation has grown!
  • Tuesday the grade fives will be participating in Music in May from 10:00-12:00. Along with other classes and schools in CRPS we will be giving a live musical performance at the Canmore civic center at 11:00.

For the week of April 24th

 - new reading records were handed out today for tracking daily reading.  They are due back by next Monday but can be turned in any time once the five reading sessions are complete.  Students are marked based on their answers being specific and detailed to show a thorough understanding of the story they are reading
- Tuesday we are lucky to have an elder joining us at LGMS to share some traditional legends with our grade five students before we embark on creating our own original legends.
 - Friday spelling test and assignments are due (students get to choose which if the 8 assignments they wish to complete this week)

Today in Science we connected our first light bulb circuits! The winking lights met with lots of smiles.  We also explored a little by adding a second light into the circuit to see what happened and how it could be hooked up.  Take a look!

Welcome back to everyone.  I hope you all had a wonderful spring break!

Your updates for this week:
- New reading records were handed out today for the week (due back by next Monday)
- Friday's homework assignment in Math weekly #9

We are also beginning a Legend unit related to our focus in Social Studies on the early tribes of Canada. We will be reading some legends and writing our own as well.  If you know of, or have a favorite legend, share it with your child to help get them excited about this project!
