Week of March 2

We are continuing to work on division (up to 4 digits divided by 1 digit with remainders) in class this week.  Students need strong multiplication facts skills and repeated practice to reinforce the steps.  A few minutes of practice at home as part of your daily homework schedule would be very useful to help your child to gain confidence and consistency.  

Monday: Math Weekly #8 comes home

Tuesday:  Persuasive (Pink shirt) presentations

Friday (half day, dismissal at 12:00):  Math weekly # 8 due

Our next Outdoor Learning field trip March 25th will be a full day of hiking, along with some time spent watching the eagle migration near Troll Falls.  We will require 4 parent volunteers able to hike with us for the full day.  

**Please let me know as soon as possible if you can join us so that we can make this trip happen **

   Week of February 23

We will be moving into our division unit in Math.  In grade 5 we will be working mainly on 3 by 1 digit division with remainders.   Knowing the multiplication facts up to at least 9 times 9 remains one of the most important skills to be successful at both bigger multiplication and division.  Practice at home to increase speed is highly recommended.

Friday (full day ):   Persuasive writing projects should be ready for presenting. 

Spelling test #8 and Assignment due

Next week on Tuesday, March 3 we will have a lock down practice at our school.  Please ask your child to tell you what the expectations for a lock down are and why we do them.  Let me know if you have any additional questions.
