  Week of  May 15

There have been a number of assignments not being completed by due dates recently.  I know that spring and the change in season can be a difficult time for all of us to remember to stay focused on the everyday expectations of school or work, but please take a few minutes to talk with your child about responsibility.

What does that look like for a student and for your child specifically?

Who/what is impacted when they don't complete their work on time?

Monday:

Math weekly assignments come home.  These are due completed Friday morning.

Permission forms for Arts Place coming home.  Please return ASAP.  We will be looking for 2 volunteers to join us (unfortunately you don't get to make ceramics, but we could use your help!)

Tuesday:     Patterns in math - for marks page

Wednesday:     Rube Goldberg devices completed and marked today

Thursday:     Rube Goldberg devices are completed - please help to arrange pick up of your child's machine if needed

 Week of  May 8

Rube Goldberg devices are being built this week!  Students will have a total of 5 blocks of time (so we will be finishing next week).

You should have been collected recycled items for the last couple of weeks and tonight is the time to make use of them.  Your child should come home with their list of items they expect to need for their build.  These items (plus other supplies you might have collected) need to come to school Tuesday for us to begin building :)

Regular school items like paperclips, string and paper can be accessed in the classroom.

Monday:    Spelling comes home - list and assignment #12 due Friday am

Tuesday:

Park Patrol Event - we will be joining a live stream event put on by Parks Canada in the morning :)  Take a look at this link if you'd like to see some of the past, great presentations Parks has made accessible to everyone: Mountain Parks Peak Discovery

  Week of  May 1

A big thank you to Ms.Julie who came in Monday morning to talk to us all about Money - where it comes from, what we use it for, how we save it (and why).  Making good decisions with money starts anytime and understanding how it works is the first and most important step!

Monday:        No weekly homework this week - enjoy the sunshine after school :)

Tuesday:

Wednesday:     May 3rd is Hats on for Mental Health - wear a hat all day to show your support and understanding for the importance of Mental Health

Thursday:   May the 4th be with you!  Wear your Star Wars shirts, hats or simple costumes :)

Legend good copies to be completed and handed in on Google Classroom.

Friday (half day):

Science info:  It's time for everyone to start collecting supplies for Rube Goldberg projects which we will begin planning and creating NEXT WEEK - things like shoe boxes and cereal boxes, balloons, paper towel rolls, string,  small containers like yogurt...  Please keep a bag of items at home and before we begin building they can come to the school.

A Rube Goldberg device is one that uses a series of steps to complete a simple task like popping a balloon, ringing a bell... and it's also our final project for our Building Things unit which is coming soon.
