Week of Jan 27
Just a quick reminder that students do not leave the classroom at the end of the day without their agendas (or a paper if they don't have it) completed and signed by me. I really appreciate when you see your child's agenda that you initial that day. This helps to complete the communication loop that your child is an important part of. Each morning I check and stamp agendas that have been initialed.
Monday: Spelling #8 should be coming home. The homework assignment is due Friday morning. Please help your child to remember this by checking in with them before the due date.
* Portfolios come home* Please take time this week to look through them with your child in advance of report cards this Friday. Please return these to the classroom when you've had the chance to look through them
Tuesday:
Wednesday: Separating Mixtures - Poster or Video is due. In total students will have had 4 class periods (3hours) in school to complete these. Please check in with your child about their progress. Here is the checklist for items to be clearly included.
Thursday:
Friday: Spelling due

Here's what we've been working on in art - water colour paintings of birds.
Also - just a quick note that with Report Cards coming out next Friday we will be filling the final few assignments into our Portfolios and you should expect to see these come home Monday night so that you have time to look through them to see the evidence used for your child's report card.

A quick reminder that we have gymnastics Monday morning so students arriving at school before attendance is very important, along with flexible clothes like leggings or sweatpants for movement.
Also - we still need 4 glass jars for our lantern project with Mr.D. He is hoping to come Monday to complete these so if you happen to have an extra that you could donate that would be much appreciated.
Have a great weekend and enjoy our warmer weather!

Right from the Start is organizing a community Lantern Walk in Canmore on Jan 31st. Our whole school will be exploring the topic: ¨What lights you up?´ with a focus on searching for joy and highlights.

Happy New Year!
I hope all of you were able to enjoy time with your family and time in our beautiful town (or wherever else your travels may have taken you) over the 2 week break. We are back into routines at school and looking ahead to the end of January for report cards and the halfway mark of our school year.
Please check in with your child at this time of year also about any supplies they may have used up and need to have replenished. Pencils, erasers and white board markers have been in scarce supply with many students for awhile now.
Week of January 6-10
Monday: Coming home tonight should be spelling (#7) as well as the printed copies of the field trip and waiver forms for our gymnastics program. Please complete both pages including your name and signature and return them by Thursday.
(Current grade 4s will be doing the Swim to Survive program like the other grade 4 classes during class time next year)
Tuesday:
Wednesday:
Thursday: Gymnastics forms are due back
Friday: Spelling test and assignments are due.
Novels for novel reviews should be completed being read over the weekend. Wednesday next week students will receive their copy to complete.
Monday January 13th - first gymnastics period. We will be leaving the school at 8:45 so it is very important that students are in class and ready on time. Leggings, sweatpants, shorts (or other sports clothes that make moving easy) are needed for each of the next 5 Mondays.
