Week of October 28

This week our Spirit team at school has planned some more fun dress up days.  Take a look at each day of the week to make your plan!

We will also be creating a Halloween craft on Thursday.

Each student will need a  small, clean (that includes having the label off) glass jar by Wednesday.  Think salsa sized, not giant pasta sauce if possible.  If you have more than one that you can send in it is always very appreciated!

Monday: Movie Monday - dress as a favorite character

Math Weekly comes home

Tuesday: Twin Tuesday - If your child would like to twin with me they can wear black pants and a blue t-shirt

Wednesday: Western Wednesday - pull out the plaid and cowboy hats!

*Library - books for renewal or return should be back in the morning

Thursday: Halloween - costume judging will be after first recess so students can wear their costumes to school.  A reminder that students need to be able to sit and work comfortably in the classroom for the day so costumes should be comfortable and not take up too much space.  They should also not be excessively violent or include weapons.

Friday (half day, dismissal at 12:00):  Math weekly # 4 due

* Please remember to log on and book your Parent-teacher-student interview times for next week.  Be sure to choose a time that works for you and your child as they will be primarily responsible for talking to you about their goal setting *

I hope that you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving and that you were able to take some time with family, have some good food, and enjoy some time outside.

* If you have not yet completed the online permission form for our upcoming field trip to Sulphur Mountain that I emailed on Friday.  Please take some time to complete it as soon as possible.   We have 2 fabulous parents that have volunteered to join us for this trip so we have enough volunteers to make it happen (but if you'd like to join us as a supervisor you're still welcome!)

Wednesday: We will be starting classes with Mr.D for health the next few weeks and we are looking forward to all of the wonderful strategies that he will help us to explore and put into practice.

Showing place value with a piece of licorice is a tasty way to really see how small those hundredths, and how minuscule those thousandths are!

  Week of Oct. 7

Looking ahead this year we will have a number of field trips, including three days of skiing when we will need a minimum of 5 parent volunteers to join us.  Currently we only have three family members with current record checks that can join us on trips.  If you have any flexibility to do this during the school year, please let me know so that I can get you the paperwork.  This only needs to be completed once for the whole school year.

Monday: Spelling comes home

We'll be working on multi-digit adding and subtracting (with decimals) in class the next couple of weeks.  If this is a challenge for your child, please consider working with them to get some extra practice each night.  Rolling dice or making up numbers work great for this type of practice.
