Our grade 4 and 5 math final test has been set for Thursday, June 13th. Yesterday in class I handed out practice finals. Like all of the other practice tests this year, these are the same length and have the same types of questions as the actual final exam. These are only one tool to help your child to study. Please help to support them in developing these skills by being a study buddy for them :)
If there are questions on the test that they struggle with, these would be areas to work on more practice at home to be prepared.
Thanks for all that you do at home to help your child to do the best that they can!

Dear Parents,
Thanks to Mrs. Amirault, our grade four students will take part in the Grassi iRide Bike Program again this year. She will run the lessons with volunteer support. The program’s goal is to increase student’s knowledge about bike safety and smart decision-making skills when on the bike. Most of all, we want the program to inspire children and youth to develop their riding skills and increase their fitness level. At the core of the program is the desire to provide cycling physical literacy skills to enable kids to be active for life!
Dates for our class:
Four lessons of 45 minutes.
June 11th and 18th at 10:30 (period 3)
June 13th and 20th 8:45 (period 1)
Each of these four days, students will be required to have:
- their own helmet
- bike in good working condition (ABCs need to be checked - Air / Brakes / Chain (oiled))
Students who are unable to get their bike to school will either be able to ask a friend to borrow their bike for the 45 minutes class or sit out and take notes.
Where does it take place?
- Outside on the LGMS soccer field
- Millennium Park
- Trail Ride along Bow River (last day)
Thank you for encouraging your child to ride their bike!

Week of May 21st updates
I hope that you all enjoyed your long weekend despite the cool weather. This afternoon we were fortunate to act as hosts for our upcoming students that are currently in grade 3 at ERS. Our 4s and 5s did a fabulous job as role models and positive ambassadors for our school!
Tuesday: Please see our Bow Valley field trip permission forms. I have 1 lovely parent volunteer so far but we are required to have 5 so please take a look at your schedule as soon as possible and see if you can join us outside for the whole day.
Wednesday: Grade 5 Shape and Space test
Thursday:
Friday: Spelling assignment is due, and test in the morning, French snacks (see the letter sent home last week for details

Can you help us to fill in these important volunteer opportunities??
If so, please email me directly, or stop by after school to say hi and let me know in person as soon as possible since I need to plan for alternatives if we don't have volunteers.
- 4 volunteers still needed for Wednesday, June 5th. All day in Bow Valley Provincial Park
- 5+ volunteers needed for our Banff Cave and Basin field trip. This is also all day and will be the last week of school June. Date to be determined soon.

We are looking for 5 parent volunteers to help supervise small groups during our Bow Valley Provincial Park plant field trip on Wednesday, June 5th.
This will be a full day of outdoor activities. Our guides will teach us the skills that we need, and then your group will be moving and exploring together while measuring different elements that affect plant growth.
If you can join us, please email me directly (don't reply to this update since it originates from our blog). tina.blackwell@crps.ca

Updates for the week of May 6th
Energy Cube challenge continues all of this month! Don't forget to keep track of all of the great activities that your child does, and the ones that you do together as a family. Every 15 mins of physical activity = 1 cube. If a child does it with family members its one cube per person! So count them up and help us reach our LGMS goal of 100 000 cubes this month.
Tuesday: Novels - Vocabulary BINGO assignment due. We've worked on these most periods next week and they are now due
Thursday: Reading records are due
Friday: Math Weekly due
Coming soon: we have a field trip coming up in early June related to our growing things unit. The date isn't set yet but it will be a full day outdoor field trip and we'll need at least 4 volunteers to join us. If you may be interested, please let me know (don't reply to this update since it's a forward from the blog so it doesn't come to me, please email me directly at tina.blackwell@crps.ca)
