A huge thank you to Mme. Gamache's grade 8 class for creating and sharing holiday pictures books with us in French.  They were also a great audience for us while we read our stories!

Dexter: I really liked the stories (that the grade 8s made for us).

Will: I really liked how they offered to translate their stories into English for us.

Kael: I liked their funny stories.  They made me laugh and giggle - like Twinky the Star and Timothy John.

Lucas: The grade 8s were very kind about our stories.  They clapped for us when we were done.  They gave us some positive feedback and we gave some to them too.

Ruby: I really liked how some of the groups were really encouraging and said things like "I want to see your story, it looks so good".

Keenan: Their stories were really great. I wish we would have gotten a turn at every group to hear them all!

Sullivan - Some of the drawings were SO good!

Tora - It was awesome how they could read it in French and translate it to English for us.

  • They said "good job" when we got things right
  • They helps us to correct our French mistakes
  • The games were unique

Monday, 25 September 2023

 Week of Sept 25

Truth and Reconciliation Day is September 30 - this week we will be having some honest discussions, reading some books and thinking about some difficult topics including touching on residential schools and why our knowledge and understanding of Canada's history are so important.  These can be heavy topics but we will be working through them together.  If you feel you are also able to talk about this with your child to help support the importance of this national day of remembering, please do.  If you have questions, please reach out.

____________________________________________________________________________

Monday: Coming home tonight is the second of the two type of homework we will be doing in grade 4 - this is called Math Weekly and is made of 5 questions related to number understanding.  Students are welcome to complete this with family support and they can use any strategy to get their answer (calculators are not a strategy though).

In the classroom we have a "Muy Importante" booklet filled with tools that can help us in math.  You can find an online version on my website on the Math tab if it will be helpful for you and your child at home.

Movie: Puss and Boots: The Last Wish

We hope to see your child there not only for a fun evening, but also to raise money for a worthy cause. They can bring a blanket or sleeping bag to sit on and comfy pajamas.

We will need 6-8 supervisors to be in the gym during the movie. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact sonja.howatt@crps.ca. The concession, set up and clean up will be done by the leadership students.

Best regards,

  Week of  May 15

What does that look like for a student and for your child specifically?

Who/what is impacted when they don't complete their work on time?

Monday:

** I  are looking for at least one  amazing parent volunteer to help run the station that our class is responsible for (which is braiding).

It will take place in our classroom (so you won't be moving around with us to different stations).  No braiding experience is necessary though it would be helpful.   You'll mostly be cutting yarn into lengths and hanging out with the different classes as they come through.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you could help out.
