Week of: September 21
Thank you to everyone that joined us Thursday evening for our open house! I loved meeting everyone and seeing families helping to celebrate the start of the year together. In case you weren't able to make it, please see the paper that was sent home during open house that gives the months of upcoming field trips.
** Please reach out to me or the office to get a letter for a free volunteer RCMP check so that you can join us on trips this year :)
Monday: Morphology- New words and homework come home
Gym plans to be outside this week, and likely next week. Please help your child to be prepared with appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather.
Tuesday:
Wednesday: Library - book exchange day
Thursday:
Friday (half day, dismissal at 12:00): Morphology Homework due and Test
Friday we will be doing our Terry Fox run - Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the morning weather and wearing runners for our run along the river path. Students are asked to bring a Twoonie for Terry, or to donate online to support this important program.

Grade Five Field Trips/Special Days:
Several field trips are planned for our school year. We look forward to our off campus learning and having our families join us on these outings. Permission forms with more detailed information will be sent to your email ahead of time.
Oct: Sulphur Mountain & Grandpals kick off
Dec: Bankhead
Jan/Feb: (tentatively) Norquay
Feb: Gr.2 Collaboration - bundle bows
Mar: Eagle Migration
Apr: Gr.2 Collaboration - solar ovens
May: Big boating
June: Grandpal wrap up & Gr. 5 fun swim
Gymnastics program– 5 one hour lessons – dates vary by class
** Please get an RCMP Vulnerable Sector check done ASAP so that you can volunteer to join us on some of these trips. Most trips will require 2+ parents for our trip to be able to run. We very much appreciate those of you that can help us to offer these hands on learning experiences to our classes!**
